Updating your home to sell
Did you know that it takes spending money to make money? Of course you do, it is no different in the Real Estate market when you go to sell your home. Upgrading your home to sell can net a small or large amount depending on what work is done. No one wants to spend a lot of money prior to selling, but if you have the time prior to selling then it is worth your time and effort. Some of the important points are;
1. Paint, first of all you want to have a neutral color for resale (Beige, khaki). Remove old wall coverings and update your paint. Texture painting is a good way to hide small defects on walls.
2. Minor bathroom repairs may recoup as much as $10,000 on the resale, just by replacing (updating) old fixtures, fixing caulk and having a smooth transition on your caulk line.
3. Landscaping; and no you probably do not know how to do it, or maybe you do. This could bring you 100% return on your resale. First thing is to find yourself a designer hopefully at your local nursery or garden center. A colorful front of the house is eye catching. Choose different colors and heights of plants. If your walkway is overwhelmed by greenery then get out the shears!!! Get some dramatic colors. Maybe a charming walkway or fountain, this can add major value to you house. Sealants on stones for a permanet wet look.
You get my point I am sure, minor repairs can help in the resale of your house, but again when I say minor I mean minor in the big picture of resale. There are millions of ideas on the endless and super internet. You should check them out and do what is best for you in the resale of your most valuable asset.
